HONG KONG: Typhoon Usagi

The night the Typhoon warnings hit level 8 we decided to change our reservations for dinner and go somewhere local to avoid being stranded. When the weather gets quite bad the taxis become sparse and it's much harder to get around. We took the train (which, if I haven't mentioned before, I loved taking!) to a recommended restaurant to find it was closed due to the Typhoon. In the end we headed back to our hotel and ate chinese food at the hotel restaurant, Yue. Pictured is a delish pork belly dish we ordered.

I am in love with this Lilya top! I ended up wearing it multiple times on our short trip away.

HONG KONG: Day 2

Day 2 of our Hong Kong trip and Typhoon Usagi was well and truly on it's way! Typhoon warning level 3 to be exact. Regardless, we made our way to Mong Kok to do a lot of shopping and see the sites of the street markets.

Luckily we got to see all the little turtles and fish on gold fish street plus make our way down sneaker street before the rain really kicked in. By lunch time the rain was shutting down the street markets so we got the train back to the safety of the hotel. More from Day 2 coming next!

THE PEAK

We arrived in Hong Kong last Saturday and since we knew Typhoon Usagi was on it's way we decided to change our plans and head up to The Peak ahead of schedule. Good thing we did because we got to see an amazing view of the city all lit up before the storm hit the next day. The full moon had just past a few days before so when it decided to peek out from the clouds it was magic!

We took the tram back down the mountain and for those who haven't been, the tram is on a diagonal slope (about 45 degree angle) and goes pretty fast! Luke and I got on last so we were smack-bang at the front of the carriage looking down the hill as if it were roller coaster! This was only the beginning of our adventure.

HONG KONG: Day 1

Travelling to Hong Kong last Saturday was exciting to say the least! Not only were we over there for a quick trip, planning on pack as much as we could into very little time, but there was also a Typhoon on the way! The biggest storm of 2013 was set to rock Hong Kong and luckily we landed in time to see the pink sunset and what could only be described as the 'calm before the storm'.

Having lived in Sydney all my life I've never had the chance to experience a tropical storm and seeing all the warnings and storm tracking throughout the city was fascinating. We arrived at our hotel to an amazing welcome package from our HK hosts Catwalk 88. We then set off to see some of the city before the storm hit. Next post: The Peak!
